30/09/2012 - 01/10/2012 - A fly by the capital

Enjoying Lima's Cathedral - briefly...

Who's a pretty boy then?
Following Annaliza’s earlier adventures in South America, Lima was far from being a highlight so we’d fully intended to skip it. That was until we arrived there at midnight with no buses heading in our direction until the next morning. Given the state of knackeredness we were both in, perhaps not a bad thing after all – our bags were barely in the room before we passed out on the pillows.

No joke about the hostel
being a museum - spooky!
We only realised the strangeness of our hostel/museum the morning after, when Annaliza came across the menagerie on her trip to the bathroom. Didn’t want to think about the skulls in a display cabinet at the reception… Had a quick walk to the Plaza de Armas and back, before it was back on the road to get the next bus – a fleeting visit indeed!

Government Palace

Key Learnings:
1. 3 stooges is a favourite on Peruvian buses, having featured on 3 so far – was slightly more enjoyable with English subtitles (with the emphasis on slightly!)
