The many faces of Mr C Lion |
 |
Sea lion fun (and an argument bottom left) on the lava |
 |
More lion action, with Annaliza and
James getting close up in the water |
Mr C Lion – fictional character or underwater playmate? You
decide. After brushing shoulders with a couple on the pier at Puerto Ayora, our
first close encounter was on the pier just prior to boarding Tip Top II (Tip
Top I unfortunately tip-topped over, and is currently resting at the bottom of
the ocean somewhere…). Our first, but by no means the last. Posers on land,
even more so underwater where they kindly put on a show for us fishing amongst
a shoal of black striped silena. A true David Attenborough moment.
 |
David Attenborough, eat your heart out. On second
thoughts, maybe not (but thanks for the loan of the
underwater camera Deb and Larry)! |
 |
Saluting another snorkelling trip |
Their less illustrious cousins, the tree lions, have
developed into finding hangouts amongst the mangroves. Annoyingly, these are
massively hard to get a good view of…
 |
More birdies, of course - blue footed boobies, Whimbrel,
Galapagos hawk, Ruddy turnstones, yellow warbler, and
the American Oystercatcher |
 |
Heron time - Striated, Great Blue and Yellow-Crowned Night |
 |
Bending the knee at Bishop Rock |
 |
Jumbo sunning it up |
 |
Marine Iguanas living the good life. Got a sneaking
suspicion you'll here about these guys again. Shortly... |
 |
Snorkelling fun continued - more shoal action and some coral |
 |
Snorkelling fun - checking out Annaliza through the shoal |
