24/10/2012 - Day 6 - Ray(mond?)

Golden rays, sunshine and autumnal leaves. A perfect combination!

Landing by turtle tracks on the beach, we soon
found their larger rellies, the giant tortoises
Not too subtley hinted at earlier, the colourful land
iguanas - camouflaged in leaves, not so much on lava!

Beach time on Isabella, the scene of our last snorkel : ( - Mauricio - "you guys don't want to live". Us - "what do you
mean?". Mauricio - "you were nearly hammered into the rock in the huge swell over there". The warning before
the snorkel started might have been nice... It was the most noteworthy part of the snorkel, that said.

Underwater gliding
Hard to believe, but this was 3 separate groups/shoals.
They loved this mangrove inlet!

Ray(mond?) – Winged underwater beauty or musician? You decide. These dudes got around – a faraway glimpse of a group of eagle rays in the distance on our dive, they seemed to show up on every other snorkelling experience, sometimes getting so close to the beach you were worried about stepping on them! From marbled, to sting, to mobulas, to eagle, and to top it all off, golden. Seeing the picture the night before in our briefing, we didn’t believe there would be hundreds of juveniles swimming in the shallows off Isabella island. Very glad to have been proven wrong. C-Ray-zy!
Panga fun #3 - the elusive tree lion!

Panga fun #1
Panga fun #2 - turtles!

Beach fun on Isabella
An unexpected brush up close to pelicans and boobies

Exhausting stuff this animal watching - better
have a lie down!
Another sunset over the ocean to savour
